All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

purchase the Kindle, paperback, or hardcover on Amazon

About The Book: Marie-Laure lives in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where her father works. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

In a mining town in Germany, Werner Pfennig, an orphan, grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find that brings them news and stories from places they have never seen or imagined. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments and is enlisted to use his talent to track down the resistance. Deftly interweaving the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner, Doerr illuminates the ways, against all odds, lives are brought together.

My Review, 5 Stars

If you love World War ll stories and crave historical fiction this book is for you. This is by far my favorite book by this author. When I finished and put this book down I was speechless and I’ve never had a book hangover quite like this one.

I love that you get the story from two very different perspectives. This won the Pulitzer Prize for a reason. It is a must-read amongst book lovers and there is no better Christmas gift this year with the release of the new Netflix series based on the book.

The Woman In Me by Britney Spears

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

My Review, 5 Stars

I wasn’t expecting something SO good. The perfect Christmas gift for book lovers and for lovers of fairytales and children’s stories. This book is filled with warmth.

Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell

purchase the Kindle, paperback, or hardcover on Amazon

About The Book:  Scarlett O’Hara, the beautiful, spoiled daughter of a well-to-do Georgia plantation owner, must use every means at her disposal to claw her way out of the poverty she finds herself in after Sherman’s March to the Sea.

My Review, 4 Stars

A timeless classic. I just finished this novel in all of its glory today! It was very long and also it was very good. It took me over a month to read but I wouldn’t have trudged on if I were not enjoying myself!

This book is amazing because it is written from the perspective of slave owners. Written by a woman nonetheless. It does have a lot of dehumanizing racism if that is a trigger for you I would not recommend this book.

Gone With The Wind is really well written. This book is the ultimate Christmas gift for those who love historical fiction and classics.

Harry’s Trees by Jon Cohen

purchase the Kindle, paperback, or hardcover on Amazon

About The Book:  Thirty-four-year-old Harry Crane, lifelong lover of trees, works as an analyst in a treeless US Forest Service office. When his wife dies in a freak accident, devastated, he makes his way to the remote woods of northeastern Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains, intent on losing himself. But fate intervenes in the form of a fiercely determined young girl named Oriana. She, too, has lost someone—her father. And in the magical, willful world of her reckoning, Oriana believes that Harry is the key to finding her way back to him.

Harry’s Trees is an uplifting tale about love, loss, friendship, and redemption.

My Review, 5 Stars

This book is really special. It’s about grief and it is heartbreaking, warm, uplifting, and magical. It’s a modern-day fairytale for tree lovers. The perfect gift for the nature lover in your life.

The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese
