How to Make a Floral Arrangement for Mother’s Day

Let us celebrate mothers! The women who raised us and shaped who we are. Let’s also honor ourselves as mothers.

Grandmothers, two mothers, single mothers, or our mothers or us as mothers, no matter how you celebrate mothers this holiday we want to help your celebration be amazing.

You do not have to spend an ungodly amount of money to celebrate a mother a simple flower bouquet or floral arrangement will do amazingly.

Creating a DIY homemade floral bouquet is easy and anyone can do it!

How to Make a Flower Bouquet

The best part is selecting the flowers. Chose a color scheme and a couple different flowers plus a bit of greenery or branches. When picking the flowers try looking for tight buds as opposed to open blooms. Buds that are beginning to open will bloom and last longer.

Select flowers that have healthy green leaves and stems that are not flimsy or slimy which can indicate that the plant is not healthy.

TIP: Save money by using wildflowers or selecting flowers that are in season.

Next, cut all of your flowers stems evenly but be careful not to cut them too short. If you cut them under running water they will last longer. Remove any thorns or brown leaves and petals that do not look appealing.

Now gather your creativity and place the fresh cut flowers and greenery together intertwining them how you like.

Some tips and ideas for placing your flowers are to select a centerpiece flower and center that into the middle and place the secondary flowers and greenery around the centerpiece.

Wrap them into a Bouquet

You can lay them down gently on paper and wrap the paper around them like a cone. Tie them with ribbon or forgo the paper and wrap them using twine with a bow.

You can also start the ribbon at the bottom wrapping it around upwards and finishing it off with a bow.

Place Them in a Vase

If you want to make a floral arrangement you will want to select a vase or a glass jar and fill it with cold filtered water.

Make sure you are arranging your flowers at eye level so you can make any necessary adjustments.

Your vase arrangement does not need to be extravagant. Some of the most beautiful floral arrangements are the simplest.

Create a DIY Flower Ball

To make a flower ball, which is also great as a centerpiece or gift, you will need a styrofoam ball or pomander. Just know these don’t last as long.

to start soak your styrofoam ball or pomander in water, then leave it out for a bit so it is not dripping water.

Then strip all leaves and cut flowers down to about 3 or 4 cm. Add the flowers by poking them into the ball, be sure to get them close together, and with no empty space. Let your creativity soar.
