It’s true I’m not a craft-crazy person. I’m more of a craft epic-fail type of mother. So we will stick to the super easy paper crafts that kids will enjoy and this Cute Paper Heat Chain is perfect for parties and Valentine’s Day!

This simple paper craft idea is easy and colorful which I think is pretty cute. You can call it a DIY Heart Paper Chain or DIY Heart Paper Banner. I would use this craft idea as a free(ish.) toddler birthday party decor idea, a fun craft for holidays like Valentine’s Day or Easter, or just for fun.

Supplies
- Colorful Construction Paper
- Small ribbon
- Scissors
- Glue
First, cut out a fun shape from your construction paper.
If you are going to do a heart chain you will want to take the easy route when cutting out your heart shape.
Cutting out a paper heart hack: Fold the paper in half, draw half of a heart shape along the folded edge of the paper, and cut along the outline.

Next cut two small slits in the top of your heart cutouts and pull the string through. You can use all different colors to make a rainbow heart banner or use one type of paper. Get your creative side busy and add glitter or other embellishments!

You can also try circle shapes and glue them to the string to make a DIY waterfall chain.
Another different variation that is a lot of fun for summer is to cut out your paper in summer-themed shapes. You can do this by tracing a pattern or cookie cutter on the paper.

Any craft that keeps my kids busy and happy for a bit is a winner in my world just don’t leave your kids unattended with the scissors otherwise it’s likely when you come back one will have had a new haircut…
